Majolica Scallop Shell Spittoon. No potters mark.. Pottery. Australian. Majolica Scallop Shell Spittoon. About 205 mm across. 1900s
Excellent. (8.7). A little grime which will clean off. A few scratches and minor marks. A few stilt marks underneath from making. Fantastic condition, a wonderful looking item which has an Australian look to it? This was sourced in Tasmania, originally I thought it was Campbell's Pottery who used a scallop shell design, but it does not look similar. I had Murray & Con, Glasgow suggested to me, but they used much larger scallops on theirs. Bennington examples also have larger shells, in fact, every example I can find a picture for has larger shells. I have a feeling this is Australian, but do not know for sure. Either way, it is a lovely piece. Estimate: $150-200
