D M Dooley / Mt. Jeffcott Hotel / Donald. Printed to rear near base: Bendigo Pottery. (Victoria). Demijohn. Impressed. Handled Demijohn. Impressed. Bristol Glaze. 1 Gallon. 300 mm. 1916
Good. (6). Handle is broken off. Some minor wear to inner lip. 13 x 15 mm flake to outer front lip. 10 x 9 mm flake to outer front right lip. 4 x 5 mm shallow flake to outer right rear lip. Some shallow chips and flakes under the heel, likely from making. Diagonal scratch across the lower front half. A little discoloured. Some surface wear in places. Some other scratches and scuffs. Extremely rare demijohn, with the added bonus of being a hotel demijohn, this is the first I have seen. First mention I see of Dooley at this hotel was in 1916. Daniel Malachi Dooley passed away in 1923. I just have to say that in 1923, the license of the Mt Jeffcott Hotel in Donald was transferred from Ronald McDonald to Rose A. M. Drum, so yes, there was a Ronald McDonald at Donald Hotel after Dooley. Estimate: $400-600
