Drink / Victor Ale / Rogers Bros. / 19 Malmsbury St. / Hawthorn / (RB Monogram) / Phone 6018 / Haw. / Ginger Beer // This is the property of / Rogers Bros., Hawthorn. No potters stamp. (Victoria). Ginger Beer. Cork Stoppered. Champagne. Blue Top. Black Print. 10 oz. 206 mm. 1910s
Ungraded. (N/A). Very rarely do I not grade a bottle, but had to in this instance. This is exactly as made with no aftermarket damage at all. However, it is by far the crudest example I have seen which should not have left the pottery! What looks like glaze wear to front lip is a kiln kiss. Chunk out of rear lip over about 26 mm is definitely from making as well, but is effectively a large chip. Front neck has crude kiln kisses and streaks. Upper right has a pushed in area. Smudge across the word drink is another type of kiln kiss. Left rear has another area of glaze missing which is another form of kiln kiss, there is 20 x 16 mm chip and a 11 x 7 mm chip here, all part of this kiln kiss from making. Lumpy kiln kiss near left rear base edge also has an associated chip of 13 x 14 mm. Front base edge and heel has some chipping and lumps all in one, another kiln kiss type mark. Small flake to rear base. A little rust. A few scratches and minor marks. I reckon this would be a major talking point in your collection, certainly a most unique example which is pretty much as made, even though it does have issues. Estimate: $50-75
