Early two piece heavy brass belt buckle with Eureka Flag.. Sporting. Buckle. Early two piece heavy brass belt buckle with Eureka Flag. 75 mm across. 19th century
Excellent. (N/A). This is a two part buckle with the tongue slotting into the groove on the other side. The flag looks like the famous Eureka Flag born out of the Eureka stockade in Ballarat in 1854 - except it does not have stars at each end of the cross? I can't see any other flags that look similar, however, happy to stand corrected if anyone can show us otherwise. Regardless, a fabulous piece. Estimate: $100-150
NOTE: One of our users who collects shipping items has informed us that he believes this is a crew belt buckle from The Adelaide Steamship Company
