Early 19th century Dowler Patent Thomason Mechanical Corkscrew with Bone Handle.. Miscellaneous. Bottle Opener. 19th Century English Victorian Corkscrew, Thomason-type Brass, Copper and Bone. 185 mm. Early 19th century
Very Good. (N/A). Would have had a brush at one end of the handle, this is missing with a chunk of the bone handle at that end also missing. Some surface corrosion to inner metal parts. Some discolouration to the copper. Minor scratches and the odd knock or two. Has a dual action with opposing threaded shaft inside a shaft so that when you fully open in one direction, it engages the second section which turns the opposite way, quite ingenious meaning you screw the screw into the cork and simply keep turning and it pulls the cork out! Sought after corkscrew which was patented in 1802, this is probably early 19th century. Estimate: $200-300
