Very Good. (7.3). The Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P&O), founded in 1837, had the motto "Quis Separabit" ("Who shall separate us?") reflecting its ambition to connect people across the globe, even in the face of geographical challenges like the Suez Isthmus. When Oriental was added to the P&O name in 1840 a new rising sun symbol was used first on uniforms, swords, and crockery and then in print in the 1850s. Earlier versions featured a sun face with eyes accompanied by the company motto 'Quis Separabit'. This is a very early piece of shipping china associated with this famous cruise line, and therefore quite significant! A bit of wear in places, some of this is a bit discoloured. Some dark spots scattered around are stain spots. Usage wear to the protruding parts underneath. Some other discolouration. Some scratches and other marks. Don't miss this piece of shipping history! Estimate: $200-300
