Row of indents around the lip. Has been a curved and straight line of embossing to the front but now just ghosted indents where the letter have been removed from the mould. 9 at front base edge. Base: Large pontil scar.. Goldfields. Jar. Wide mouth jar. Crude tool finished top. Aqua. Pint or so. 180 mm. 1840s - 1850s
Excellent. (8.2). Band of fine scratches around the shoulder. Similar sort of fine scratches up from the base on one side. Some other general light marks around. There is a nail stuck in the glass in the neck which must have dropped into the mix, no faults around this. Deeper scratch or part of an inclusion on the other side of the neck. Wonderful early jar. Estimate: $50-100
