Large White Ceramic Insulator with Lead Fitting from the Overland Telegraph Line (Adelaide to Darwin). Circa 1872.. Insulator. . Large White Ceramic Insulator with Lead Fitting from the Overland Telegraph Line (Adelaide to Darwin). Circa 1872. 148 mm. 1872
Very Good. (7.1). According to the vendor he has been informed that this was from the Overland Telegraph Line between Adelaide and Darwin from around 1872, so is an interesting piece of Australian history. The lead part has a bit of rust and some pitting. There is a deep rusty looking line of wear just below the lead, this is where the wire would have rubbed against it. Small flake to base edge, next to this under the base edge is an impact flake which has a fine hairline through it along the lower edge. A bit of wear in places and some discolouration. Really interesting insulator. Estimate: $30-50
