Sold for A$190
Exchange / Ware's / Hotel. No makers mark. (South Australia & Western Australia). Hotelware. Mug. Stoneware Mug. Black Print. Dark and Light tan glazes. Half Pint. 95 mm. 1910s-1920s
Excellent. (8.2). Tiny impact to base heel has a small horseshoe hairline from it. Some glaze misses from manufacture. A split or two from making. Spot of wear or two to the handle. This is in great shape though. Apparently Ware's Hotel originated in Adelaide but they also opened a Pub in Kalgoorlie during the peak of the early gold rush there. These are from South Australia mainly though with them being found in Adelaide dumps. There is an earlier version with a slab seal and then this one which is found in later tips from the early part of the 1900s. (This is the exact same example as sold back in Auction 38, Lot 530). Estimate: $100-200
