Tooth's / (Stylised type of Australian Coat of Arms with Shield & five stars in the middle) / Advance Australia / XXX / Ale / & Stout / Property of Tooth & Co. Ltd. Tin on the back has a note stuck to it that says 40 x 48, Young Hotel, Young (or at least thats how I interpret the handwriting). (New South Wales) (Not for post. Arrangements will have to be made by winning bidder for pickup or courier delivery) . Beer. Advertising. Large advertising mirror. Multi-coloured. Frame: 1225 x 920 mm.
Excellent. (N/A). Most marks are just some grime still on the surface. Very heavy (about 20.5 kg), good solid frame (with screw holes all around it), and tin backing. Not sure on age, Coat of arms is along the lines of one used from around 1908 - 1912 before being redesigned with simply Australia in the banner, State badges in the shield and floral emblems rather than simple lawn. Of course use of an official coat of arms would have been disallowed at the time. I see one in the same style but for Resch's was sold by Lawsons back in 2012. I assume this mirror was made in relatively recent times but very well made I will add.
Extra note (21/9/25): Having spoken with a well known collector who was good friends with the previous owner I can add that this mirror was bought as an original. Unfortunately as this is part of a deceased estate I can't ask the last owner any more about the provenance but it seems he had owned it for somewhere around 30 years. As I've said, whatever the origin it is a magnificent item.
