Sold for A$220

Very Good (N/A). Some damage to parts of the embossed decoration, looks like it has been damp and got mouldy in places. Some stain. Has a metal hook made in to the back for hanging and there is some mould on the underside. A unique item, certainly a talking point for any pottery collector! EST: $200 - 300

Bread plate mould! Yes this is a "Give us this Day, Our Daily Bread" mould. Design features grape vines, leaves and bunches of grapes coming in from the edges of the handles. Also two rows of large dots inside the flat section of the plate. The only similar plate I've been able to find on a quick search is from Lithgow Pottery and features on Page 79 of Australian Pottery: The First Hundred Years by Geoff Ford. So attributed to Lithgow for now. (New South Wales) Very heavy plaster Bread Plate mould. About 370 mm long. Late 1800s
