Murphy Bros / Kerang. No potters stamp. (Victoria) Demijohn, Impressed Two tone, tan top. Impressed. 1 Gallon. 307 mm 1900s
Excellent (8). Couple of splits to inner neck are making marks. Lip is great, handle is great too. There is a short, fine glaze hairline where the upper handle meets the body, this is nothing and wouldn't even be mentioned by most people. 20 x 5 mm flake to right base edge. 25 x 9 mm chip to left rear base edge, next to this is a shallow flake under the heel over 17 x 20 mm. Some other flakes around the base edge and heel, some of these looks to be clay pulls from making. A few spots of surface wear. Crude glaze, or lack thereof in places! The left upper body has a large glaze miss, the glaze below this has pooled a little. Another large glaze miss next to this towards the handle. Around the right side there is a thin glaze miss below the tan glaze with a couple of longer streak of glaze misses down from this. There is a scratch to upper body between these streak to the right. A great example of this country Victorian demijohn, we have sold two other 1 gallon examples in the past, but they both had Merchants on them, this is the first two line only variety we have sold. Estimate: $300-350
