G. H. Herring / Adelaide. No potters stamp. (South Australia) Ginger Beer, Cork Stoppered Salt glaze. Impressed. 10 oz. 165 mm 1870s
Very Good (7). A bit of wear to upper lip with a couple of really small glaze flakes. Tiny nick to upper right neck, another to right rear mid neck. A few little nicks to the shoulder edge and some fine wear. 6 x 6 mm flake to front left base edge. 10 x 10 mm flake to right base edge. 5 x 2 mm surface flake to left rear base edge. A little minor base edge wear as well and maybe a surface flake or two as well. A couple of little blow outs from making. One or two little spots of wear just through the glaze to the body and a few deepish scratches as well. A little fine glaze wear in places. A few minor making marks. Lovely mottled glaze throughout. Good impression, a little light at places, it almost looks like this has ALFLAIDE impressed, but may well be just a poor impression on the DE? A sought after and early bottle, you don't get many like this with the shoulder impression. Estimate: $500-750
