Sold for A$220
Geo. H. Bennett / (GHB within a Flag) / Richmond // Turner & Co / Makers / Dewsbury. No base mark. (Victoria) Aerated Water, Patent Patent with four neck dimples, lamont stopper. Applied top. Aqua. 10 oz. 223 mm 1880s
Good (6). Polished. This is the same bottle as sold back in Auction 24 (Lot 244). The back lip chip has had a bruise underneath it which can now be seen more clearly over about 10 x 5 mm. From this the rest of the lip has been reshaped and rounded to smooth it out. The remains of the pitting can be seen all over. The embossing is still weak with some flattening and rounding. Has always been a rough bottle but very rare. (Original description - Fair. 9 x 17 mm sliver chip to left lip. Smaller sliver to rear lip. Upper lip between these is chipped as is the inner lip. Some other wear and lip nicks. Heavily stained throughout. A bit etched, there are plenty of scratches and spots of wear. Plenty of impact marks and fisheyes scattered around. Embossing is flat, as it would have been when it was made, these "Turner" patents are nearly always poorly embossed. A rare bottle.). Estimate: $100-150
