Large green lidded storage jar. Chinese, Jar Large green lidded storage jar. 281 mm without lid 19th century
Very Good (7). Jar has crazing throughout and glaze drips, lumps, kiln kisses, etc. Just crudely made. The glaze drips under the heel have flaked, probably done in manufacture to allow jar to sit straight on a flat surface. There is some circular cracking under the base on part is a bit pushed in, this can be seen on the inside as well, so it is likely this would not be water tight. The original lid has a 150 mm chunk out of the rim that would have been two separate pieces. These original pieces have been stapled back in place, this would likely have been done many years ago when the item was being used. There is a chip or two to the join as well. Quite a lovely piece of Chinese pottery in this colour and large size. Estimate: $100-150
