Remued Ice Jug, Later Series 72. On the base of the jug is 'Remued / 72'. (Victoria). Pottery. Remued. Earthenware hand-thrown jug with stylised C-shaped handle. The jug comprises a flat circular base and a cylindrical body that is pinched at the sides to form a pouring spout. There are three bands of horizontal ribbing around the body of the jug and a deeper indentation around the lower base. The exterior is yellow and green drip glazed with a partially mottled glazed base and a yellow and cream drip glazed interior. 220 mm. 1946-1956
Very Good. (7). Remued earthenware was made by the Premier Pottery, Preston, Victoria, Australia between 1946 and 1956. This has a small glaze flake to the right side of the spout, the left side of the spout has a repair where some flaking or shallow chips have been filled and coloured, very well too I might add, it may well be missed by some. 50 mm hairline to inner rim on right is not visible externally. Little glaze pop or two to body. A few scratches and minor marks. The heel has been ground back, this was done when made, grinding back the uneven glaze drips which would have formed. A nice example of this ice jug, sometimes referred to as a beer jug as well.. Estimate: $75-100
