Sold for A$420

Brewed / Ginger / Beer / The Property of / E. Stevens & Son. No potters stamp. (South Australia?). Ginger Beer. Cork Stoppered. Two tone, tan top, off white body. Dump. Black print. 10 oz. 156 mm. 1930s

Near Mint. (9). Little blowout to front shoulder from making. A few other little blowouts and iron spots from making. Little nick to front right shoulder. Couple of tiny surface marks to the heel. Crazing throughout from manufacture. Pretty much as made. A bit of an enigma, has been suggested in the past that this is from E. C. Stevens & Sons from Warracknabeal in western Victoria who had a ginger beer, they also had a codd marked with Stevens & Son, Warracknabeal which nearly matches the wording on this ginger beer. However, this one does not say E. C. Stevens, and only has Son, not Sons? Also, of the few that are known of this bottle, they have all been found in South Australia. This is more likely a South Australian bottle not related to the Warracknabeal company in our opinion, but we do not have evidence to back that up! This also looks to be of later manufacture, we have listed 1930s, but it may even be 1940s, it is certainly not a Bendigo Pottery or Fowler made bottle from the earlier 1900s. Very interesting though, a rare bottle whether it be from western Victoria or South Australia is unknown, but certainly from that general region of Australia.. Estimate: $200-250
