Lot 215: Bowen Cherry Tooth Paste Collins Swanston Melbourne

Excellent. There is a small patch of rusty crazing to the face at about 7 o'clock. The top rim where it angles down 90 degrees to the flange has four or five spots of tiny glaze wear / flaking. One directly above e in cherry, 1 x 1 mm at most and just through the glaze. A similar one above the Y. Another at about 3 o'clock. A tiny mark below the O of Melbourne. Below the E of Melbourne is a glazed over chip, 10 x 4 mm. This is a manufacturing flaw which we do not consider to be damage in any way. There is a small bit of glaze wear beside this glazed chip, 6 x 1 mm. A little bit more wear further along on the edge, not even glaze thickness, it is difficult to detect. The under part of the flange where it sits on a base is undamaged. There are three marks, these are actually “embossed” onto the flange, so are manufacturing marks as well. There is a scratch under the lid, measuring 9 x 1 mm and about glaze thickness. There is some slightly discoloured crazing to the flange. This lid does NOT come with a base. This is a great example of a scarce Australian pot lid. Grade: 8.3 Estimate: $400 - 500
