S.Wardell (on one shoulder). Shield shapes to all four sides. Fancy, crown type pattern to lower neck, bulbous section and ring above this. Large open pontil to base. (Page 416, "Ketchup, Pickles & Sauces" by Betty Zumwalt. Era from "The Hoff Store Site and Gold Rush Merchandise" Pastron and Hattori editors). Goldfields Pickle Square section American pickle. Very crude flared rolled lip. Blue tinged aqua. Half Pint. 170 mm. 1850-51

Excellent. Looks to have been very lightly tumble cleaned judging by the rounded edges of some of the fine scratches remaining. Still beautiful whittle and character to the glass. Extremely crude bottle. Lovely rare goldfields era bottle. Grade: 8.2 Estimate: $400 - 500
