Grand Medal of Merit Vienna 1873 / James Keiller & Sons / Dundee / Marmalade / Only prize medal for marmalade / London 1862. Base Marking: 1738 (Impressed). Household Jam Off white porcelain open topped jar. One of the smaller sizes available. 55 mm. 1880s

Very Good. Although not damaged, we have downgraded the condition report due to a poor strike of the stamp and poor glazing, both from the manufacture of the piece. The upper part of the jar has extensive crazing, a couple of these crazed marks are darker than the others and so appear as glaze hairlines, one across the top of the lip about 20 mm, and one down inside the jar about 20 mm also. There is one tiny flake to the upper rim which is too small to measure. As mentioned previously, the ink stamp is poorly struck, the writing is all easy to read, but is running and smudged, the glaze over this area is poor as well, almost totally missing in areas, with some spots where there is a blob of glaze. A crude piece that is not damaged, but looks a bit down due to manufacture. Grade: 7.8 Estimate: $10 - 20
