T.R. Proctor / Victoria / Melbourne (around a nice geocentric design). Pot Lid Eye Ointment Ceramic, black print. 38 mm. 1880s
Very Good. Face of lid is great with only some discoloured crazing/fine glaze hairlines to report. There is a tiny nick on the very edge at about 10 o'clock. There is some shallow chipping to the bottom of the flange over about 20 mm, but only 2 mm deep at worst, and mainly on the inside of the lid. A small flake, 3 x 1 mm exists on the bottom of the flange. Some crazing to the flange, and a few of these lines going around the lid are heavily discoloured and appear as fine hairlines. This lid comes with a fitting base, although doubtful it is the original base for this piece. There is some rust to the base, otherwise it is quite good. The grading for this lot is for the lid only. Grade: 7.9 Estimate: $300 - 400
