W. Leak & Sons, / Flying Eagle / Trade Mark / Benalla. The Bendigo Pottery / Epsom / Bendigo / Coy Ltd. Ginger Beer Cork Stoppered Champagne Shape. Black Ink transfer. Tan top. 12 oz. 222 mm. 1890s
Very Good. Great looking rare pictorial Victorian ginger beer. There is a chip to the front lip and a shallow chip along the top of the lip. These chips have been filled and we have scraped the paint back a little to try to show the extent. The chip at the front looks to be 10 x 5 mm. There is a shallow filled chip under the front lip as well, 12 x 3 mm and very shallow. Just over half the top of the lip has fill around it that looks very shallow. At the end of this shallow filling is a fine horshoe hairline that comes a little way down the top, and down below this is a small impact mark just through the glaze, this is to the side and on the lower part of the lip. The rest of the bottle is stunning with a couple of light rust stains. There is a 12 x 6 mm chip near the base on the back near the potters stamp. Underneath the base is a 10 x 4 mm shallow chip and near that a little 2 x 2 mm flake. A nice example of a rare Ginger Beer. Grade: 7 Estimate: $300 - 400
