Near Mint. This is simply an amazing piece! The large stopper has a few scratches, it is stuck in place, we have not tried to free it, it appears to have a flake on the inside where it seals as well. The top of the decanter has a ground finish, there is a flake on the upper lip, about 6 x 5 mm but very shallow, a small nibble near this, a flake on the opposite side about 4 x 3 mm, a few other minor marks as well around the lip. Where tap fitting is applied, it appears the hole cut into the decanter originally had some flaking around it, with the glass spigot simply applied over the top. These are manufacturing marks. The sheer size of this barrel means there is a large surface area. Several scratches can be found, mainly around the middle of the barrel. The lettering is etched with gold paint applied, this is all in near perfect original condition. There is usage wear under the base. This is such an imposing and impressive piece, we have never seen another. Grade: 9 Estimate: $750 - 1000
