Sold for A$100

(Crown) / Victorian Selters Water / (JM Monogram in a shield) / Ballan. No makers marks. (JM Monogram stands for Joske & Morton). Aerated Water Torpedo Applied blob top. Aqua. 10 oz. 231 mm. 1870s-1880s

Very Good. Polished. Scuffs and scratches are still evident, most have been softened in their appearance by the tumble clean, some are still slightly deeper with that dark appearance to them. Seams and glass detail are still mostly clear, embossing is light but generally is on these anyway. Very shallow 6 x 3 mm chip to the side lip that has been rounded slightly and a 2 x 1 mm pinprick type mark near this. Some manufacturing type folds and marks in the glass including a scythe shaped run of black glass under the seam on the lower right hand side. Nice looking example of an early Victorian torpedo. Although the waters were taken from Ballan this was really a Melbourne based company at the time this bottle was distributed. Grade: 7.6 Estimate: $60 - 100
