Excellent. Very little to report externally, under the base there are two flake chips, the largest of which is 5 x 4 mm. Dirt and staining internally, a good wash should remove most of this. There are a few fine annealing marks within the neck. Newlyn and Gulval are parishes near Penzance in the UK. The main trade in these areas was fishing in the late 1800s, a trade that required a great amount of ice to keep the goods fresh. The ice works was set up at Gulval in the 1870s to cater for this fishing trade, it would appear they also catered for the vast Cornish mining industry of copper and tin mines, which were prevalent in the Penzance area. A fascinating bottle which provides a great insight into the entrepreneurial behaviour of some of the people who had these bottles produced. Grade: 8.2 Estimate: $30 - 40
