Frankston Springs Co. / Registered / (Serpent or fish) / Trade Mark / Hop Beer / Islington / Street, / Collingwood. Potters Stamp: The Bendigo Pottery / Epsom / Bendigo / Coy Ltd. Ginger Beer Hop Beer All white, cork stoppered with black print. 26 oz. 267 mm. 1890s
Very Good. Has a lip chip repaired to the right side lip, 12 x 18 mm but only up to 2.5 mm deep. There is also a small flake to the front lip just around from this, 5 x 3 mm but just through the glaze. There is a 20 mm hairline across this flake on the upper lip. Another 8 mm hairline on the outer lip near the repair. A couple of other minor marks on the upper lip. The underside of the lip on the left side has a short 5 mm hairline. The front right shoulder has a fine 23 mm hairline. At the bottom of the potters stamp is a small chip, 8 x 4 mm. There are a couple of small under base flakes which is pretty standard for any pottery bottle like this. Some very light surface scratches and a few small dull spots. These were once exceptionally rare, a number were found at one location some years ago (many of which had some form of minor damage like this one), but they still remain a highly sought after piece which are quite rare. This is a nice looking example as is, a better job on the repair will leave this a superb example. Grade: 7.2 Estimate: $250 - 300
