Ornate goldfields Club type Salad Oil. Known as a Shark's Tooth oil. Goldfields Salad Oil Applied top, tapered bottle with ring around neck, then 8 vertical panels down to 2 rings around the bottle, then 4 vertical panels on one half of the bottle, round on the rest down to another ring. Below this is a bulbous section with ten shark tooth type designs around the base. Aqua. 7 oz. 222 mm. 1860s
Very Good. Has been oiled internally. Wonderful striations to the neck. Some evidence of a light internal haze. Tiny flake to one of the double rings. Couple of impact marks and short scratches around the base designs. Mottled orange peel effect under the base may well be remains of a pontil that has been refired. Nice bottle in this shiny, unpolished condition. Grade: 7.9 Estimate: $50 - 75
