The / Pure Milk / & / Dairy Co / Ltd / Melbourne / Imperial Pint. Base Mark: M. Household Milk Applied top. Swing stopper style enclosure with ceramic cap. Short, dumpy style bottle. Aqua. 1 Pint. 208 mm. 1910s
Very Good. Polished. Still retains most of the seam lines and the embossing still has much of the original detail. At the top of the right seam is a small flaked section just under the applied lip. There is a bit of rust within this, so it is probably from the wire used to stopper the bottle. Glass is generally smooth and shiny, there is still some evidence of minor pitting and fisheyes, with some usage wear under the base. The inside appears to have been oiled, so would likely have a light haze. The stopper no longer has any wire attached to it, but is the original stopper for this bottle. The rubber is new. There is a small flake near one of the holes in the stopper where the wire would have passed through. These are an iconic milk bottle, a must have for milk collectors in this early and unique dumpy shape. Grade: 7.7 Estimate: $500 - 600
