Lipscombe & Co / Patent / 233 Strand / Near, Temple, Bar / London / (English Coat of Arms). Household Water Filter Salt glaze, slightly waisted water filter with applied decorations to front. Small size, 1 gallon. 271 mm. 1870s
Excellent. Stunning little water filter, it does not have a matching lid, but the filter body itself is superb! There are just a couple of shallow glaze flakes around the lip. The applied decoration to the upper spigot hole has a tiny flake off the end, this is flush with the end of the spigot hole, so may be from making. There are some shallow flake chips under the base, the largest of which is just to the left of the spigot hole, this is about 20 x 9 mm but very shallow. There is some minor surface staining in areas. A superbly ornate, detailed filter in supreme condition. Grade: 8.9 Estimate: $100 - 150
