(English Coat of Arms) / Dieu et mon droit / By Appointment / To Her M, Army & Navy / Sportsmen &c / Price 6d / E. I. O. W. D. Stoneware Impressed Small wide mouth jar. Grey glaze. 2 oz. approximately. 54 mm. 1830s-1840s
Good. Amazing little piece of early stoneware. Around the base are several chips, the largest are at the rear and at least some of these would appear to be from manufacture. There is an expansion crack from making around the front left neck. Coming from the lip are 3 fine hairlines in different places running down the item about 30 - 40 mm each. Coat of arms is a bit weak at the top but bottom part of the impression is lovely and strong. Some rust stains. Stunning little item, very early and extremely rare - this is not even known in the UK! Grade: 6.6 Estimate: $200 - 300
