Boxed Set of Monopole Scales and Weights. Miscellaneous Gold Scales Original set of boxed scales. The box has Monopole on top and bottom of lid. The side has Cabinet 25 and Press near the clip. The brass scales have By his majesty's / Royal / Letters Patent on the bowls. There is a set of weights: 1 x 1 DWT, 1 X 2 DWTS, 1 x 3 DWTS, 3 x 4 DWTS, 1 x 5 DWTS, 1 x 6 DWTS, 1 x 10 DWTS, 1 x 1/4 oz troy, 1 x 1/2 oz troy, 1 x 1 oz troy, 1 x 2 oz troy. Along with a couple of other hanging weights with a small weight that slips over these. There is also a small tin housing weights from 0.5 up to 6 grains, these are very fine. 226 x 142 x 35 mm. 1900s
Very Good. What a superb set of scales with the full set of original weights. The box is in good condition, has some wear, the hinges are a little loose. The latch mechanism appears to have been replaced with a simple nail. The bar holding the scale plates is rusty, but still perfectly functional. Some dullness to the scale plates, will polish nicely, but looks good as is. Great piece of history! Grade: 7.7 Estimate: $50 - 75
