Finlay's Counter Top Jar. No base mark. Household Jar Ground lip, bulbous body jar with pedestal base. Clear. Blue print. Counter top jar. 310 mm. 1920s
Very Good. We found reference to a Finlay's Confectionery Store in Bathurst just prior to 1920, possibly from there? The article from 23rd December 1916 in The Bathurst Times states: An application for a Sunday trading license was granted at the local police court yesterday by Mr. C. Jennings, P.M., to Florence Finlay, in respect of a confectionery shop in William Street, Bathurst. 35 x 10 mm flake to inner front top. 15 x 7 mm flake to the left of this. 16 x 7 mm flake around to the right of the inner lip. Smaller chip to inner left rear lip. The entire jar is quite filthy, needs a good clean all round. There may be some scratches, hard to tell with all the grime. The print is good, possibly a bit faded, a few little spots of wear to be found to some of the letters. A very interesting piece, not one we have seen. Grade: 7.4 Estimate: $100 - 150
