Violet Powder. Base Mark: 3. Medicine Chemist Blue-Green Milk Glass apothecary type lidded jar with gold leaf writing and decorations. 238 mm without lid. 1850s
Excellent. Not sure on age, but this is quite early. Thin flake to upper right lip edge. Some usage wear under base. Some minor spots of grime. Good print has a little wear, but mostly fine. Interestingly, on the right angle it is quite scratched under both the words. It looks like possibly previous words have been removed and these replaced. Also, under the current decoration, it is obvious that there were previously other decorations which have worn off. These are very, very hard to see, but are there. The original lid has a 4 underneath it. This has a bit of stain and has a fair bit of wear to the gold leaf decorations. Some scratches. Quite an interesting and unique piece all round. We believe Violet Powder was used as bath salts? Grade: 8.3 Estimate: $300 - 350
