Amber Geometric Inkwell. Base Mark: Pontil. Ink Glass Geometric Ink. Amber. Pontil. 2 oz. 48 mm. 1830s
Excellent. This was likely made at the Keene glassworks in New Hampshire, US. Slightly rough at edge of top wafer, this looks like a series of scratches right at the edge, but may be some annealing marks? Some grime. An inclusion in the side has no damage associated with it. Some minor under base usage wear. One of the diamond points above the inclusion has an impacted type flake to the top of it. Great example of this very early American ink bottle. From the famous ink collection of Bert Hayward, Bert was on the cover of the Australian Bottle Review in February 1976 with his display of inks! Grade: 8.2 Estimate: $150 - 200
