Blackwood Registered Ink. Ink Stoneware Salt glaze bird beak ink. Impressed. 4 oz. 135 mm. 1850s
Excellent. The beak on this appears undamaged. Having had a close look there are minimal marks to it, which is odd for one of these. Glaze to front and right looks dull, which is common with these. The impressed stamp is weak, looks like it has been highlighted in pencil or the likes for show purposes. The words Blackwood & Co are not visible. Little flake to front base edge. Couple of little flakes to base edge. One of the better examples of this piece, which is the smaller of three or four sizes. From the famous ink collection of Bert Hayward, Bert was on the cover of the Australian Bottle Review in February 1976 with his display of inks! Grade: 8.2 Estimate: $150 - 200
