W. Watkins / Trade / (Clover) / Mark / Boulder // This bottle is the property / of W. Watkins / Boulder. Potters stamp: Bendigo Pottery / 23 / Epsom. (Western Australia) Ginger Beer Cork Stoppered All white. Black Print. 13 oz. 221 mm. 1920s
Very Good. Extremely rare bottle, the few that have been found come out of Victoria, possibly being a later bottle the order may have been meant to have crown seals, when they put blob tops on them the pottery may have dispatched them to a Victorian company instead to put labels over the print? Just a guess of course, regardless, these are extremely rare and extremely sought after. 4 x 2 mm nick to glaze to upper front lip has an 8 mm scratch coming down from it. 4 x 2 mm glaze nick to upper rear lip as well. A little wear to outer lip. Shallow flake under base below potters stamp, another small one around from this, these may be pottery pulls. Discoloured spot to left of stamp, another to rear upper body, these should soak out. Fine scratch through stamp, there may be a small flake barely through the glaze here as well, or a glaze miss? Short deep scratch to rear mid neck. Some glaze drips and misses near the base. A bit of spotty glaze wear in places. Some fine scratches. A striking bottle, another won't turn up in a hurry! Grade: 7.5 Estimate: $$2,000.00 - $2,500.00
