Very Good. Decorated glass rolling pins were generally given as gifts by sailors to their wives and girlfriends. They were usually colourfully decorated with a sailing ship and words of endearment or a date. One end of the pin always has a small hole in it, the reason for this was to fill the pin with warm water to assist in the rolling of pastry. This one has a fair amount of inner stain and grime. There are some outer scratches and minor marks. Pontil at one end has been ground in manufacture. Nice looking piece. Not sure on exact age, but would be from somewhere in the 1800s, probably the latter part. One of several on offer in this auction. Grade: N/A Estimate: $$75.00 - $100.00
