Sold for A$110
Edmund Fuss / ~ Narrabri ~. Smooth base. (New South Wales) Aerated Water Patent Horners Patent (these were made for use with a metal cap and oval glass stopper inside). Applied top. Aqua. 10 oz. 212 mm. 1870s-1880s
Good. Dull all over and the surface of the glass just has a rough feel from some etching from the soil. However there is only the odd scattered pit mark around and the embossing is strong so really not a bad example of this rare Northern New South Wales bottle. This was listed in Auction 26 and sold for $528. However, it was misdescribed and so we are now selling it again with the extra description as follows: There is a small surface flake to the outer lip, the outer lip is quite smooth as it has had some polishing work done - not sure what was polished out but something has been done here. The rear lower body and base edge is also very smooth where a chip or flake has been ground out and the bottle around this reshaped to disguise this work, does not look like any chip has been very deep at all. Impact flake to rear base edge. A few other impact type surface flakes and fisheyes. Grade: 6 Estimate: $100 - 150
