H. Hammon / Merchant / Creswick. No potters mark. (Victoria) Demijohn Impressed Handled Demijohn. Stoneware. Tan top. Impressed. 1/2 Gallon. 251 mm. 1900s
Fair. Repaired chips to lip. Hard to tell extent, there is a section of front lip that is original, but painting around the rest of the lip covers repairs of unknown size. Handle is fully restored. Very fine hairline through the lower two words of the impression, at 90 degrees to this is another, both around 30-40 mm long. Some discoloured spots. A bit of wear to base edge. Some scratches and scuff marks to be found. Some little flakes and nicks to the body. A rare demijohn, from the same company that had the barrel that we sold a while ago and whisky jugs as well. Probably should grade better as this actually looks quite good. Grade: 5.8 Estimate: $200 - 250
