Six different pipe bowls with various pictures on them. Tobacciana Pipe Six different pipe bowls with various pictures on them. Various. 1900s

From left to right: Sullivan can be seen on the side shown, Smith is on the other side. A boxing theme, Jim Sullivan, the English middleweight, was matched to meet Dave Smith at the Sydney Stadium on July 19, 1913. However, as far back as 1888, Sullivan and Smith were advertised as having sparred in the presence of The Prince of Wales. Further investigations show that in 1889 "Jem Smith, Champion of England, shall fight J. L. Sullivan, ol Boston, now holder of the World's Championship". I would suggest this is the more likely pair depicted on this pipe. The stem is broken about 1/4 of the way along. Good condition otherwise. The second one has a hunting theme. A fox head above a foxes tail on one side. A horse head above a whip on the other side. Stem is broken near the bowl. Chip to inner rim. Flake to outer lower bowl. Stains and marks. The third one has a harpof Erin as the trade mark on both sides, with a crown above. Stem is broken at the bowl. Nick at top. Small pottery blowout. Quite white this one. The fourth one has a pair of people on one side which is pictured, the other side has a hatted man smoking a pipe with a sheep and a palm tree. The stem has Squatters and Fudgetree on each side. Stem is broken 1/2 way along. Pretty good otherwise. The fifth one has a sailing ship on the pictured side, an anchor on the other side. Sten is broken about 1/4 of the way along. Stained internally. Some staining externally. The last one has a couple of people drinking from a bottle on the side not pictured. The side pictured has a person with maybe a dog and a palm tree. This is very similar to number four, but not the same. Stem is broken about 1/4 of the way along. Flaked along the top of the stem. Chips to the rim. Some stains and marks. Grade: N/A Estimate: $40 - 60
