Brisbane / (Crossed Flags) / Aerated Water / Co // John Lamont / Maker / Glasgow. Base Mark: BGW. (Queensland) Aerated Water Codd Applied top. Four way pour Dobson style codd with four dimples. Aqua. 13 oz. 230 mm. 1890s
Good. A nice bottle made at the Botany Glass Works. A nice bottle made by John Lamont in Glasgow. Yes, I did just say it is made in two different places, but it has the BGW base mark and John Lamont's details! Where was it made then? I don't know! I am guessing in Glasgow, maybe they sent over the mould used at the Botany Glass Works for use in Glasgow? Quite heavily stained throughout. There is an 8 x 6 mm flake to the lower rear lip that goes under the applied lip, this is a making mark. Pitted marks scattered around. Scratches and fisheyes. Very heavy embossing has some high point wear and nibbles in places. The neck dimples are a little flattened on this peculiar oddity. Grade: 6.6 Estimate: $50 - 75
