ABC / Adelaide. No makers mark. (Aerated Bread Company, Adelaide, South Australia) Aerated Water Maugham Applied top. Aqua. 13 oz. 277 mm. 1870s
Fair. Oiled internally with associated discoloured grime. Has been extremely heavily and poorly polished, yet still retains etching internally and around the flat embossing. A couple of thin open bubbles to the rear. Near front base on the body is a deeper, larger burst bubble which is still quite thin. Horizontal mark just down from the lip behind the dark stain looks like a fine fracture. The embossing is very poor, it is flat and terribly pitted, but at least you can see that this is an example of the rare ABC maugham from Adelaide which will be a good gap filler.
