Goldfields Salad Oil. Known as a George Whybrow shape.Round indented base Goldfields Salad Oil Four raised panels with four concave panels in between. Facetted shoulder. Ring around neck. Applied top with distinct groove between the lip and lower part of the top. Aqua. About 6 oz. 205 mm. 1850s
Excellent. Don't recall actually seeing one of these in this size and top style. Has some light haze inside but also just some dirt towards and in the base. Just light scuffs and marks outside. Referred to as a Whybrow style by Goldfields collectors (with the same body shape as the common pickle bottle) but recently AA Auctions had a large size with embossing for a Wine company on the base so who knows! This small one would almost certainly be a salad oil, pepper sauce or similar however. Grade: 8.3 Estimate: $200 - 300
