I. J. Garlick / Trangie // A. Alexander / & Co / London. No base mark. (New South Wales) Aerated Water Codd Applied top. Four way pour Dobson style patent with four tear drops. Aqua. 10 oz. 226 mm. 1890s
Fair. Polished. 14 x 19 mm chip to right lip has been roughly filled. Entire inner lip above the rubber ring groove has been ground in some fashion. This is not deep and does not seem to have been to hide any chips, so not sure why this was done? Possibly there were some flakes there prior? Inner front left rubber ring groove looks like it has a couple of shallow flakes. 7 x 9 mm flake to left rear base edge. Remains a little dull. Some fisheyes. Some scuffs and scratches to be found. Garlick's Hotel was in Trangie around the period of this bottle, although the owner had different initials. Maybe Isaac had an aerated water factory attached to the hotel owned by a family member? Whatever the case, an extremely rare codd bottle, I have never seen one myself. Grade: 5.7 Estimate: $250 - 350
