R. C. Knaggs & Co / Cold / of Roses / Cream / Hunter St. Newcastle. (New South Wales). Pot Lid. Cold Cream. Round lid, black print on white background. 69 mm across. 1900s
Very Good. (7.4). Some slight scuffs and fine scratches to the face which are a little discoloured in places. Little mark near right face edge is a little bubbled spot, down the outer flange from this is a line where the glaze is bubbled too. Is this a making mark, or possibly where a thin hot item has been resting against this? 5 mm groove to bottom of flange is a few millimetres wide, but there is glaze inside so this is definitely a making mark. Some fine spotty discolouration underneath and some other fine discolouration in places around the flange. This comes with a base which has a rim chip, hairline to base edge and some discoloured crazing. The grading is for the lid only. A rare lid, we have never sold one before. We have a range of rare Newcastle chemists and pot lids in this auction.. Estimate: $750-1000
