Bellarmine or Bartmann Jug. Impressed fancy stamp twice on neck and once on upper body. Middle one looks a bit like a face but that seems to just be coincidence. . Pottery. Bellarmine. Large Bellarmine or Bartmann Jug. Salt Glaze. Half Gallon+. 329 mm. 17th to 18th Century
Excellent. (8). Interesting one. The impressed stamps are quite unusual. Nice salt glaze with good colours and drips around. Fine hairline on the neck of 70 mm from the edge of the two stamps towards the right. From the lower part of this first hairline is one that stretches diagonally back across to the left of about 170 mm in total. Some other even finer crazing and lines on the neck. Small blowouts and the like around. Big kiln mark to mid and lower right side. Really nice piece of early stoneware.. Estimate: $400-600
