Big Boy Hamburgers Plastic Moneybox. Miscellaneous Money Box Plastic figural money box. 215 mm. 1960s
Very Good. This item was sold in Auction 41 with following description. "Good. A bit dirty and grimy. A little bit of wear. Minor marks. Looks like the arm holding the burger may have been broken or damaged as there is a little bit of overpainting just above the sleeve. Good looking piece of advertising." We adjusted the listing during the auction as the vendor informed us that the arm had not been repaired, and so after doing some research, we found that moulded plastics are notoriously difficult to repair, the only way to do so is by applying heat, which is evident afterwards. Therefore, the description was changed to upgrade the status to not repaired. The purchaser subsequently returned it as a repaired item! This is being sold again as an UNREPAIRED item. Please do your research prior to bidding on repairs of moulded plastics and if you have any doubts, do not bid. There is overpainting on the arm, and some on the face for that matter. The arm painting does NOT go all the way around the arm, the rear arm is as made showing a slight band of a different colour where the printing has not aligned properly. This is why the paint has been applied when made to cover the darker band which was a remnant of making. Condition is actually Very Good on this item with no repair in place whatsoever, just some touch up paint from making to disguise a making misalignment. Any questions, please ask prior to bidding, and if there remains any doubt, do not bid! Grade: N/A Estimate: $30 - 50
