George Adams' Tasmanian / Brewery Hobart. // Drink / Adams' Ale. Makers mark: A. C. A. / 75 Chancery Lane / London. (Tasmania). Beer. Advertising. White counter bell base with black print and original metal bell in place. 95 mm diameter. 1900s
Very Good. (7.7). Must have been found under a house or in an attic? The metal has some scratches and surface corrosion, but is still fully and easily functional. There is a shallow 8 x 4 mm nibbled flake to the shoulder above the SM of Tasmanian, this would have occurred whilst being used on a counter in a pub, or at the brewery itself. The two purpose made holes in the lower body have heavy grime in them which will clean out. Little scratch or two to the flared out base edge. 6 x 3 mm shallow flake to the heel immediately below one of the purpose made holes. Tiny nick to inner hole edge. A few minor scratches and marks. A superb item which is extremely rare, the first we have sold. Not only is this linked to an early brewery, it is also linked to the founder of Tattslotto, being George Adams himself. He ran his first sweep in the Sydney Gold Cup in 1881 continually expanding this business until his passing around 1913, but having a hand in many, many businesses throughout his time in Australia.. Estimate: $1500-2000. Reserve: $1,500.
