Lord Baden-Powell pipe bowl. (United Kingdom) 5. Roberts of Kandahar. Made by noted pipe maker, Gambier, model no. 1660. Bowl complete, removable stem missing. 6. N/A. (N/A). 1. VG. Not sure if the stem is broken, or short where an attachment would have been applied. I think it had an attachment as is not broken? Flaking around the rim. Some discolouration. A few minor flakes and marks. 2. Fair. Stem is broken. Some chips, flakes and wear to the remaining parts. Inner stain. 3. Good. Chipping to the end of the stem where an attachment would have been applied. Some discolouration. Stained internally. 4. Fair. Stem is broken. Heavy rust and discolouration. Large chip to underside of stem at the bottom of the bowl. Some flakes and wear. Lord Baden-Powell pipe bowl ? CIV on upturned hat brim [Robert Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell]. In the Boer War, Colonel Robert Baden-Powell was Commander of the British garrison during the Siege of Mafekeng from October 1899 to May 1900. He founded the scouting movement. On hat rim: CIV = City of London Imperial Volunteers (est 24 December 1899). 5. N/A. Frederick Sleigh Roberts, 1st Earl Roberts, also called (from 1892) Baron Roberts Of Kandahar, (1832 – 1914). British field marshal, an outstanding combat leader in the Second Afghan War, (1878–80) and the South African War (1899–1902), and the last commander in chief of the British Army (1901–1904). A bit of minor inner bowl stain. Little flake to inner stem. Dark circular stain to outer stem. Where the stem meets the bowl is a wide band of darker clay, looks like it has been repaired? If it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck and.... well, lets just say I think it is repaired? 6. Fair. The head of a Moor was a health bringing sign. The very popular pipe was developed before 1900 and stayed in production for a long time. Large – 70 mm tall. Not surprisingly, stem broken. Some smoke stain. A few little surface flakes. Large pipe bowl.. Estimate: $40-80
