J. Sherwin. (Three rings around shoulder). (Tasmania). Pottery. Tasmanian. Reddish top, Orange body. Impressed. 204 mm. 204 mm. 1840s-1850s
Good. (6). 140 mm crack to front shoulder down body, bottom part is a hairline. Couple of 50 mm hairlines from this to upper body. 200 mm crack around the lower rear body, this is wide in places. 20 mm hairline up from this. 20 mm sliver at base edge at end of this crack. Couple of minor flakes to base edge. Glaze flake or two to shoulder and upper body as well. Some fine wear to base edge. Some crazing from manufacture. Some discolouration in places, maybe as made? The impression is the crispest I have seen! Looks great, the horizontal crack is at the rear and I actually have a feeling this is from making as it looks possibly like some of the glaze curves slightly into this crack? Either way, nice piece in this larger size. Estimate: $600-800
